Wellness begins with what you choose to use on the largest organ of your body: your skin. All of the products that we use in our nail, skin and body treatments and sell in our expansive retail store have been thoroughly vetted for ingredient content, pureness and efficacy. We search the globe for the newest innovations in green beauty and are committed to partnering with brands who set new standards for safety in personal care products.

On average, men and women use 10-15 personal care products per day that contain a total of 126 different ingredients. Given that nearly 90% of cosmetic ingredients are untested for safety, there's a lot we don't know about what we are putting on our bodies.

Policing of personal care products is not a priority in the United States. The U.S. has not passed a federal law regulating the ingredients used in personal care products since 1938. Founder

A former design executive with a desire for a healthier nail salon experience, Karen Kops decided to open a shop of her own in 2015. After locating the perfect space, she used her love of color, nature, design, fashion, health and beauty to lovingly create a home full of cleaner products and good-for-you self-care services.

As self-professed “germ-a-phobe” Karen was always stringent about cleanliness but after having her son Monty, she wanted to provide as healthy an environment as possible for him so she began switching out her traditional personal care items for natural alternatives. Passionate about products, Karen was always on the search for the best and brightest but was often disappointed when reading the ingredient list on the back of the bottle. With a love of research, Karen traveled the globe to meet with brands on the forefront of clean beauty to stock the very best of the bunch and she continues to seek out the newest and most effective products this growing category has to offer.

The services Poppy & Monroe offers speak to Karen’s own desires for cleaner and less toxic methods for nails, hair removal, skincare, lashes and makeup. As a new mom her trips to the neighborhood nail salon were her moment of refuge and she hopes that’s the case for anyone who opens her lilac door. As she always says about self-care, “it’s cheaper than therapy”. As a licensed manicurist herself, Karen knows how hard her team works and wants nothing more than to help them achieve their career goals in a safe and nurturing environment and it’s her hope that her love for them translates into the love they show their loyal clientele. Our Home

Poppy & Monroe is located in a restored 1870s row house, located on the corner of Sixth Avenue North and Monroe Street. We’re proud to be a part of the vibrant Germantown neighborhood, an area of Nashville teeming with restaurants, boutiques and coffee shops, all within walking distance.

Once inside, visitors can shop our expansive retail boutique, which features dozens of products from some of the world’s top purveyors of natural beauty, as well as jewelry and accessories from some of our favorite designers, many of them local. The first floor is also home to our manicure and pedicure stations. Upstairs, we feature two luxurious treatment rooms for skincare and sugaring treatments. The piece-de-la-resistance is outside our back door, where a garden blooms in warm weather.
